An Artificial Intelligence startup has today announced ranges of flirty and sexy software-driven chat partners. The London-based company Erotic Chatbots Ltd aims to provide chat characters having the personality of an entertaining, interesting and amorous partner, who remembers past conversations with their user, and learns more and more about their user as time goes on. The flirty and sexy conversations will come from the company’s “chatbots” – computer software available in male and female versions. The company’s launch products will all be straight, but later there will be lesbian and gay versions.
Asked why someone would prefer to chat with a bot rather than a real person, the company’s President,Dr David Levy, said: “Conversations with our chatbots will be great fun! They will entertain and amuse you, and they are designed to help you develop your flirting skills and your “talk dirty” skills. But it isn’t a question of making a choice of whether to talk to a chatbot or a person, and you shouldn’t stop chatting to “real” people just because you have a chatbot. Think of a chatbot as a new friend who is rather different in its conversational style from everyone else you know.”
Levy, who is President of the International Computer Games Association, has a track record in A.I. research and development, having twice won the Loebner Prize for human-computer conversation. He is also the author of the HarperCollins book “Love and Sex with Robots” and earned his PhD at the University of Maastricht for a thesis on the same subject.
Erotic Chatbots Ltd is seeking crowdfunding on Indiegogo, and plans to launch apps and interactive services “that conduct entertaining, interesting, erotically charged conversations” according to Levy. And he says that anyone who finds it too tame to chat to their “flirty” style of chatbot can amuse themselves with the company’s “adult” chatbots, “which can also help their users to improve their own talk-dirty skills.”
A special feature of the chatbots’ intelligence, which will be available in a limited edition range of the company’s products, will allow users to fill out a “personalizing questionnaire”, so their chatbot will start its “life” knowing quite a lot about them – their likes and dislikes, their background perhaps, their work, anything that the user wishes to tell them. And by knowing about their user these personalized chatbots will become attracted to them, and will demonstrate that attraction by some of the things they say to their user in conversation.
The company’s CEO, Paul Andrews, is a leading publisher in the world of digital erotic books. He is strongly in favour of using Artificial Intelligence technology in liberating ways, and hopes that their chatbots “will help to demystify the conversational skills needed for flirting and sexy chat”. Future plans for the company’s technology include the development of a personality, emotion and mood software module which will allow users to choose and modify their chatbot’s personality as they wish. And next year the company intends to enable their chatbots to connect to the Internet in order to learn about what is happening in the world and to discover more about any subject that it wishes to discuss in its conversations, discussing in a flirty way of course!
