The dream of creating an artificial mind and reveal the mystery of human intelligence has fascinated humans for centuries. Many researchers and scientists have been working in this field even before the term Artificial Intelligence was created in the mid-50s. No wonder, because if you spend a few seconds thinking about the influence this could have on our lives, we realize that our environment can change completely.
Just imagine a mind not only capable of reasoning, but also able to feel. Imagine it could recognize your smile and understand that it means happiness. If a mind is able to understand your emotions, it would know what you need at every moment.
The truth is that to understand and mimic human emotions and intelligence is a much more difficult task than we think, and it requires many different disciplines to complete the puzzle and build a true artificial mind. Each discipline and research group is devoted to create a small piece of that puzzle. But if those pieces do not come together, research groups will hardly match their developments and advances in order to unify them and work together to build the puzzle.
In order to put together those pieces, Adele Robots, a robotics startup is creating Fiona. Fiona is a tool that allows people from around the world to contribute to this challenge providing their little piece of intelligence. Whether you are a researcher, a developer or a company or a single individual, you can collaborate in this challenge. Thereby Fiona enables the exchange of knowledge and results within one single online platform, where everybody can work together to build an artificial intelligence.
Adele Robots has been developing Fiona since June 2011 and its first beta version has been released with restricted access for selected users. Celestino Álvarez, Adele Robots founder says “Our next plans include creating a crowd funding campaign, because we strongly think that Fiona’s final goal is a great challenge and it cannot be done by a single organization.”
You can register in Fiona and join the beta version.
