Google Labs has released a free tool that is familiarizing Internet users with the construction of the human body. It allows you to see the detailed structure of every organ, search for muscles and peel back anatomical layers.
Created by Zygote Media Group an anatomy search engine Google Body Browser allows a cross-sectional three-dimensional view of every interesting part of the body. You can find any organ and muscle on a map of the body using this search engine. The application allows careful study of muscles building, their location and naming. You can zoom in the view, rotate it in three dimensions and search for the names of body parts and organs.
You can also share the exact scene you are viewing by sending the link by email, sharing it on Google Buzz or Twitter. The application is available online and free, but in order to use it you need a WebGL-enabled browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox 4.
Google Body Browser attempts to revolutionize the anatomy education by a unique 3D learning experience. The next step of Google Labs development team is to combine the fluid visualization options with intelligent language processing techniques and self-awareness algorithms in order to obtain a perfect conversational virtual human: capable of talking about every single anatomical part of its animated body.
