Chatbot Adam is not very bright, as you will discover while talking to it; however it is fairly responsive given its simplicity. Project started in 2000 and closed in early 2001. Current version is 1.2.6 written in PERL. This project is complete as far as I'm concerned, and I have no intention to upgrade Adam anytime soon to a more 'realisitic' AI.| by D.L. The Divinator is an interactive talking program that responds to personal and spiritual questions in a way all its own. Extensive original content and a unique language parser lets you converse with two Sages (Fleance and Harmonanx, spokesmen for The Divinator who remains silent). Ask it anything, whether serious or playful, but ask from the heart.| by Juergen Pirner since Jun 1999 in English, Web, Leisure, Proof of Concept, Text recognition, Avatar, Commercial |

MegaHAL is a "conversation simulator": a computer program which responds in natural language to what you type, written by Jason Hutchens, who is now working with Artificial Intelligence on an exciting project to create "true" AI. It is able to "learn" what to say by observing the things which you write to it, and is therefore not limited to the English language. | by eGain since Feb 1998 in English, Web, Body health, Text recognition, Avatar, Commercial |

Here are some of the ways Sarah expresses herself as a chatbot. If you like the character, but find that there are specific animations that would make her more suited to your needs, request the animation be added to the collection!

Albert One, a response emulator developed by Robby Garner in 1997, was the winner of the 1998 and 1999 Loebner Prize Contests. It's popularity is due to it's human-like behavior. Albert is listed in the 2001 Guinness Book of World Records as the most human computer program in the world. | by Richard Wallace since Nov 1996 in English, Web, Text recognition, Avatar, Commercial |
