Phil is a Consultant who has been active in the field of AI since 2000 when he was working as a consultant for an international systems integration company. Prior to his work in IT he graduated, as a mature student, from UCL in the field of Anthropology where he achieved a BSc. His definitive research was an ethnography of online community in 1997/1998 focussing on the implications for an individual’s sense of self in virtual environments. From this point he realised the importance of automated delivery and gathering of information in digital spaces. He set up Elzware in 2002 with the specific objectives of opening up the conversational system marketplace in line with available bandwidth, digital consumer devices and internet services. The company is based in Bristol and is increasingly being pulled into the connecting points between social media, consumer analytics and chatbots. His previous work history includes engineering, cabinetmaking and production line quality assurance & control systems. |
