Loebner Prize deadline 29th June

Just a heads up to anyone entering this year’s Loebner Prize that the closing date for entries is 29th June, one week from now. http://aisb.org.uk/events/loebner-prize

The LPP seems stable with no last minute changes like last year:

Anyone here planning on entering? I believe Don Patrick is and I assume Merlin is, after his impressive entry in 2017.

Good luck to all.

I do plan to enter this year.

Although the LPP is stable, there were a few issues, that showed up.
The system crashed consistently for me (bug report issued). I found it was node.js trying to write the webcast file to a protected folder.
When I tried to use it with the latest version of chrome, I had to turn off security to read the local files.

So far, I have only tested everything running on a single machine. Over the weekend I hope to test a network.

I’m wrapping things up this weekend, looking to send my entry in early to be on the safe side.
Not much has changed with my entry except it’ll be less talkative to avoid the conversational trainwreck from last year, which is part of my new tactic to try and actually pass. I’m assuming Merlin will give me a run for the money as in the last two years.

  [ # 3 ]

I won’t be entering this year. LPP2 systems were not stable a month ago and I have no time now to spend on this.

Sorry to hear that Bruce. I always look forward to our annual AIML v Chatscript friendly battle.

Congratulations on your new role though. I hear you are joining the Seed Vault Advisory Board on Conversational User Interfaces. They said you had won the Loebner Prize twice, so I corrected them.

  [ # 5 ]

thanks. It was true enough, I had won it twice. The rest is just more. Likely I will return next year possibly to defend my record and prevent you from winning 5 smile

  [ # 6 ]

Of course, for me to do that, you have to win this year, which is not a foregone conclusion.

  [ # 7 ]

Indeed! Merlin lost out by just 1 point last year and so has a great chance this year too. I look forward to competing with you again in 2019 where hopefully, we will be 4 wins each! cool smile

Sadly, with everything that’s been going on in my personal life I will not be entering. Between the move, the cancer diagnosis and my general overall health being what it is, I’m just not able to keep up the required energy to make the effort. I’m hoping for a change for the better for next year, but that’s too far in the future to contemplate fully, right now.

I’m working on it!

“LPP2 systems were not stable”, Bruce said.

In C++, Google wrote Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine, which node.js is built on.

In C++, Bruce wrote ChatScript, which Rose is built on.

Therefore:

In C++, Bruce may integrate Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine (header files)
into ChatScript, which Rose is built on, to avoid the issue that “LPP2 systems were not stable”

I beat Mitsuku in the Loebner Prize Contest, last time I entered.

You can do it, Merlin!
