Spell checkers have been a godsend for me
Yup! Gotta love those spell checkers! The vast majority of the words picked up by mine (about 90-95%) when I type are typos (Carpal Tunnel is a pain! Literally!), about a third of the rest are words that the spell checker has never experienced before (to paraphrase Sir Mix-A-Lot: “I LIKE big words and I cannot lie!”), with most of the rest usually being uncommon Proper Names, or words that I intentionally misspell, for effect (e.g. “gotta”, above). That’s not to say that I’m some sort of “spelling guru”, or anything; it’s just that I’m usually very careful about my spelling, and if I don’t know how to spell something, I look it up. 
I think I’ve either directly mentioned, or at least eluded to, the fact that I’m somewhat anal about these things. 
but everyone is different, and my Dad used to point that out by saying, “If everyone liked the same thing, I’d have to stand in line to see my wife!”
