Anki is now releasing an autonomous Home Robot named as Vector. Vector is the most advanced home robot ever made—at a price that means you can actually bring him home. He’s a curious little guy who is aware of his surroundings. He can see, hear, and feel, allowing him to react naturally to the world around him.
Vector’s main activity is tootling around on a table and investigating its surroundings. Using a combination of sensors, it builds a little map of its surroundings. If it detects a new object, it’ll go check it out and see if it can be pushed around. It pays attention to sound and is able to recognize faces. It’s more self-sufficient than the Cozmo robot; it’s able to find its charger on its own.
Vector responds to your voice. Just say “Hey Vector” to activate him and he’ll instantly perk up. His backpack will light up as soon as he hears you and he’ll be ready for further instruction. Everything we can do to confirm that a robot that’s alive and excited to explore can survive the real-world environment that is your home.
