I hope this message is ok to post in this group. My name is Eline and for my current thesis research I am taking a closer look at the design process of chatbots. I created a framework which I would like to apply to existing chatbots. Have you been closely involved in the development/design of a chatbot? You can help me out by filling in the survey about some factors of the design process.

I went over to the survey page, and almost right away I could tell that the answers you were looking for were not ones that would specifically help, since I don’t develop actual chatbots, but a chatbot engine.

I guess I should introduce myself. I’m Dave Morton, and I’m the lead developer for Program O, an open source chatbot engine, coded in PHP/MySQL. I’m more than happy to answer any questions you might have about the design process, but from what I saw of your survey, most of the questions asked there aren’t really applicable. That said, however, I’ll take the survey if you would like me to. It’s up to you.

I filled it in but I guess the chatbots you refer to in the survey are the ones similar to FB Messenger bots that follow a conversational script rather than generalist bots.

I do build new chatbot machines,
for research purposes, and I did
