I am a Loebner programmer, and I am from ...

... France !

Wine and cheese would have little to do with AI programming wink
But I believe our country raised us and made us into what we are, as much as life and parents possibly do.

English is then a foreign language to me.

I would like to know:

Are there, or have there been other Loebner contestants from France?
And where are you all from?

Thanks for replying and sharing this,

- Chris

Bienvenue à toi, Chris, et félicitations pour ta place très honorable au Loebner wink

Yes, I am the author of Johnny. I am happy because there is not a lot of french chatterbots (I was almost the only one until now).

Erwin has listed quite a few French chatbot companies above.

There is also a website listing amateur French chatbots, above.

Both Jean-François Battistini (Harumi) and Sylvain Leseur (Athena) pop up here in the “AI Zone” from time to time.  François Parmentier, developer of the learning chatterbot pyECTOR, is active on Twitter.

As for myself, I am dual Australian-American, born in Australia of American parents….  In Australia, I had a brief meeting with French academic, Carole Adam, who helped organize the WACA´ 2006 Second Workshop sur les Agents Conversationnels Animés.
