... Which would be simply a reverse chronological list of recent replies posted, with links to the whole thread. Either of the entire forum, or of just some users / topics you are ‘following’ (e.g. just of the threads you replied/started yourself)
Would this be doable with the forum module used here? I already think there’s a ‘recent forum activity’ box somewhere on this site, so it would be quite a natural continuation from there for example.

I’m rather lucky (most of the time), in that, being a site admin, I’m automatically subscribed to every thread here, so I get email notifications for 99.999% of all posts made in these fora. However, if I weren’t in such a situation, I thing that a news feed might prove useful, especially if each member were able to customize it to suit their needs. If (for example) you only wanted to be notified of “happenings” in the ChatScript forum, one could select that feed option in their “User Control Panel”.
Sadly, such options do not yet exist here, but there is the option of daily/weekly/monthly email updates via the small “forum subscription” panel, just to the left of this post (if my guess about where this post will be placed is accurate).

Thanks for the tips - I find the ‘digest’ mails rather lacking. For me too, the email notifications of threads I replied in are the main way to go quickly to new comments - but given that this isn’t that active a forum all in all, just a list of ALL latest comments would still be quite digestable I think.
If @Erwin would give me those credentials to that dev server I might just give this one a little shot as well for fun

Wouter suggested, “... but given that this isn’t that active a forum all in all, just a list of ALL latest comments would still be quite digestable I think.” True perhaps during periods of low activity, like during summer months when everyone spends more time outdoors.
However fora (forums) may become highly active at any moment. So ALL the latest comments to all the members may then, all of a sudden, become indigestible. So the level of activity is a variable to consider when designing a new solution.
Simply friendly FYI ... This is a good, interesting topic that may be better categorized (easier to find) under Feature Requests in the Admin forum instead of AI Zone forum.

The idea of moving this thread into the “Admin Section” is a good one, Tom, but sadly not possible at present, as the “Admin Section” is actually a completely separate forum altogether, as opposed to a different section of the same forum. I suppose I could try to extract this thread from here, and drop it into the other forum’s DB in the proper place, but there would be the issue of… Well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty.

Yeah sorry if this was an inappropriate place to post this - I looked for an ‘about chatbots.org’ forum section but I don’t think there is one, at least publicly?

No worries, Wouter. It’s all good.
Near the top of the page, you’ll see (or should, at least) two rows of tabs. The second row should have two tabs: “AI Zone” and “Admin”. the forum for feature requests is within that second tab.
I should point out here that, being an admin, not everything that I see on the page is content that’s available to all members, so I could well be wrong about the description above.

... Or click the Features Requests link in my recommendations posted above. My specialty is forumbots, so I am interested in this topic.. Wouter, I hope you find them useful, when Erwin grants you access to the Chatbots.org development server. In the meantime, I think I’ll go give your Yoko A.I. project a test run today. Your domain name, Yokobot.com reminds me of the Youtube domain name… Both start with a “Y”. Both are the same length. And both have similar letters.

@elizabot: thanks for adding your idea over here!!!
At the moment, we’re lacking development budget, so we don’t want to promote feature requests, as actually every request would be moved to ‘postponed’, and that would disappoint the community.
However, I’ve just given Wouter access to the dev.server. Dependent on his finding, we might be able to add some changes to the forum. How cool would that be?? Crowd sourcing has always been my ideal!!!
Please feel free to add your real name and pic to your profile btw. Love to learn more about you!

Erwin - Elizabot aka 8pla.net is our old friend Tom Joyce. I think he had problems with his 8pl.net account name and so made this account.

Steve Worswick - Sep 7, 2013: Erwin - Elizabot aka 8pla.net is our old friend…
Firstly, just explaining in a friendly manner… Any confusion, please understand, it was not my choice in the matter. All that was needed was a simple email address update on a profile page. Then, what a shame, the Chatbots.org system ate my 8PLA • NET username. (Lost nickname 8PLA too, I guess.)
This is the only reason why another one of my new domain names, Elizabot.com, with the dot com left off, was used to replace the 8PLA • NET username. So, this account is the orignal. No new account was ever made.
Please feel free to rename username Elizabot back to 8PLA • NET by just doing a copy and paste from the profile page where it says: Formerly 8PLA • NET ... And please also feel free to delete this post after you read it… I certainly don’t mind. This topic was posted here to another thread back in July.
Yes, Erwin, judging from Wouter’s website Yokobot.com he has quite a bit of talent, and may be a great addition to the development team. Chatbots.org is lucky to have a new web developer.

PROFILE UPDATE:
1. Changed username from: Elizabot to: ∞Pla•Net
2. Changed avatar image from: Elizabot to: 8PLA • NET
3. Changed link to: 8pla.net
This is a test. Numbers get deleted it seems,
and all caps change to camelcase during Profile update.
So I used: ∞ which is the symbol for infinity.
Wait a second, isn’t infinity a number?

∞Pla•Net - Sep 8, 2013: Wait a second, isn’t infinity a number?
lol no, it’s a concept. If it were a number, you could do {infinity + 1}.

Welcome back Tom!! Whether you call yourself 8pla, Tom, Elizabot or ∞Pla•Net.. I can change it back to the original provided that you won’t change it again….. (except when you decide to use your real name ... ). deal?
