Getting current topic

Hi,  I need to have the bot return me the current topic in a conversation.  What is a good way of doing this?  I noticed that there is a %topic system variable.  However, putting %topic in a responder’s output does not seem to return anything.  It would be great if the current topic is part of the message the bot returns. Thanks.

I’m not sure what you are doing. It SHOULD work. ... %topic works fine for me. 


It has “several meanings” because the algorithm for its return is to find a current topic its “allowed” to return. It is not allowed to return a system, nostay, or blocked topic. In that event, it walks the current topic nesting it may be in, to find one it can return. If those fail, then it returns what is considered the current most interesting topic.
