:regress crashes

When I try to run a regression file with :regress REGRESS/regressionfile.txt it now crashes/quits. I created the regression file successfully with :regress init username REGRESS\regressionfile.txt  

I am using v8.5 and have used this regression method successfully before. Is this a bug in the current version?
