Prepare and verify of “Hm?”

I have a weird finding:

#! Hm?
    a: ( ~emomisunderstand )

doesn’t throw an error using :verify pattern

:prepare “Hm?” doesn’t show the ~emomisunderstand interjection

I am using the default token
