How does https:// wit.ai detect spanless entities? And also how does it detect roles?
(I mean, how did they model the language and how did they train their neural network (in the first place))

I received this question via Quora, and would like to know the answer myself….  ;^)

At first glance it looks like a system with user-programmable keywords and actions? Like a more powerful version of Windows Speech Recognition Macros, or at least more suited to customise and easier to implement. It seems very similar to Siri’s workings, with the difference of being directly programmable, so I’d find this very helpful.
A “spanless entity” seems to be a complete sentence acting as a voice command (as opposed to command keywords within a sentence), so I imagine they handle those the same way WSR macros do.
