Well, I’ve FINALLY been able to complete the Installation script module for Program O ver. 2.0, and have passed it over to Liz for integration. This was the final major hurdle for the project (though I’m certain that there are still a couple of minor hurdles to go) that was delaying release of the project. There’s still a bit of “testing and tweaking” to do, I’m sure, but we’re hopeful that we can release it early next week (though we’re not making any “written in stone” promises. Sorry). If you haven’t done so already, please stop by the website at http://www.program-o.com and sign up for the forums, and watch for the “official announcement” to be posted soon. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m getting really excited about the release! :D

I’m not certain what sort of “hacks” you’ve made, but given the number and types of improvements to the new version, you may have less work to do there than you may think. You may also be interested in the fact that there will be a good deal of support for creating “addons” or “plugins” for PGO 2.0, so many of those “hacks” that haven’t already been addressed will be quite likely be prime candidates for being developed into addons. I’m wondering, Carl, have you already registered at the forums there? If so, maybe we can open a dialog there to discuss collaborating on creating some addons together. I’m already planning on making an addon that will parse BBCode into their HTML equivalents, including URL and IMG tags, and have a couple of other notions that I would like to explore, as well.

I did register over there way back around “May Day”, so once v2.0 is released I will be over there with any discussions of addons etc.  My “hacks” involve some preprocessing and post processing- pretty basic stuff.  One specifically incorporates basic Wordnik lookup for unknown words.

I just got an email from Liz, saying that her workload has prevented her from working on the integration so far, and that it looks like it will be at least Wednesday before she can get to the code. Having had to deal with similar “real life” issues before, I totally sympathize. I’ve been testing not only the install module, but the engine itself pretty extensively, and it looks great. I’ll keep after Liz (without actually nagging, of course), and see if I can’t get the script released as soon as possible. Bear in mind, though, that neither one of us want to release the code until we’re sure that there are no major bugs.

Does Program O have a learn tag ?
