When writing patterns and determining what to use for choices in [...] patterns, do you use things like thesaurus.com or other such resources?

I usually try to just think of all the reasonable possibilities but I inevitably miss some and then smack my head when a student asks a variation that I missed.

I use wordhippo.com , not that it’s better than thesaurus for synonyms. Any person’s vocabulary is limited and there are always some words that are not in common use. Unfortunately given the broad range and overlap in the search results it is not a process I can automate, and I don’t trust resources like WordNet to do a well enough job for the same reason.
