Don’t get distracted from your deep work, when not absolutely necessary. I do send alerts to a single engineer. Of course, I escalate unnoticed alerts to another team member or the whole crew if necessary.
Instead of cluttering up your inbox with emails I do send alerts via Slack. Just re-use your modern team communication solution. More fun than scrolling through hundreds of emails.

Fastfood.ai Bot helps restaurants receive SMS food orders from customers via text. Restaurants then manage the incoming orders right from their mobile phone or tablet through Fastfood.ai Mobile and web app.
Chatbot on Facebook Messenger. It can send you daily updates or search for CNN's own articles on a list of topics or with text input. The results are given as a short horizontal list of article headers with foto's, so you can click them to read the story on the CNN website.
Weather forecasting bot in cat shape. You can always ask for weather details or a forecast based on your location. Another option is to have Poncho send forecasts on specific times of day, e.g. 9:00 AM. It uses a repertoire of funny remarks and phrases.
Wolfram|Alpha is not exactly chatty, but it gives elaborate answers to factual and scientific questions on lots of subjects. For instance, asking 'what is the population of France?' gives you not only the current population (64.1 million) but also graphs with recent and long-term population history and age distribution, and also a list of the largest cities in France, with population numbers.
